Functional Safety Review of
next generation platform architecture

Our Services and Activities 

  • The purpose is to analyze, give feedback and contribute to solutions for Volvo Cars next generation platform (GPA), which is a communication and execution platform that should support fail-operational AD L4.

  • We shall provide a report, give a verdict (proof-of-concept) concerning the solutions from safety point-of-view (especially ISO 26262 point-of-view) and suggest any changes or new requirements to consider.

  • The scope includes both close term solutions with CAN in at least one channel and a solution with ethernet in both channels for future platform(s).

  • Main use case driving the fail-operational communication and execution concept is autonomous drive L4 and especially safe stop with vision input.

  • Failure modes like HW, SW, temperature, EMC, and power shall be included.
